YAYOI KUSAMA: INFINITY MIRRORS AT THE ART GALLERY OF ONTARIO

One of the hottest tickets in town in 2018 was very much Yoyoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors at the Art Gallery of Ontario. The gallery has since put together a proposal to purchase the installation as a full-time exhibition and has said it had the $2M needed for the Instagram sensation. Liveable Art is a trend that has on-set with social media. Studies have shown legitimately that your biological experience changes when viewing a piece of art vs viewing a piece of art to take its picture. So as an almost unintentional extension of this notion – Living Art is interactive, as in it’s created to be reinterpreted and shared.Since the success of this particular installation, Toronto has seen a number of Living Art or Experience pop-ups as temporary and intended permanent fixtures such as The Happy Place and The Museum of Optical Illusions. Special thanks to Marla who promptly left work when her friend called to say she’d gotten tickets – presumably only to get this footage. 😉
