The best WordPress hosting for agencies and Freelancers: A Review of Flywheel vs HostGator WordPress Hosting

WordPress is one of the most robust Content Management Systems out there. As an open-source CMS, it has collectively had over 100 years of development time. It currently makes up over 30% of the Internet and that number is doing nothing but growing. Clients love it, designers love it, and finding good hosting for a WordPress site can make all the difference in your and your client’s experience.

This is your guide to the best and most popular WordPress site hosting options on the internet. In many cases WordPress hosting breaks down into two categories. Expensive and inexpensive – so, what’s the difference? I’ve taken the two most popular hosting companies with a dedicated WordPress host solution and broken them down here. You’ll also notice I’ve included our hosting packages – because shameless self-promotion is the best. Our packages are for our clients only as we like to know the sites we’re hosting so we can stand by the Guarantees we make. If you’re looking for a new website considering getting in touch for a quote, now on to the WordPress hosting.

1. Flywheel

Flywheel is a dedicated WordPress hosting company with a powerful platform perfect for designers, agencies, pro-individuals, companies and corporations. It includes a comprehensive and easy-to-use back end that lets you backup anytime with ease, flush site cache as needed and manage your or your client’s hosting plan and domains.

From a security perspective Flywheel does an impeccable job. They are one of the only – if not, the only – WordPress host that successfully achieves a SOC 2 certification year-after-year, so you can trust your agency website and client websites are safe.

Flywheel also offers a white-label service if you want to dress up the back end for your clients and sell hosting yourself, which makes it a digital agency’s best friend.

Flywheel is the preferred hosting provider of Toronto Creatives.

2. HOSTGATOR WordPress HOSTING

The good thing about HostGator’s WordPress Hosting plans is their cost. This is a similar concept to Flywheel but not as robust. HostGator of course also offers many different hosting plans for all sizes of websites for as little as $5 and change per month. These guys make their money in bulk and what they make up for in quantity you lose a bit in quality and speed, to be perfectly honest. The HostGator WordPress Hosting is solid but it’s arguably not as stable or secure as Flywheel – in my opinion, and from experience may not be the best place for a custom corporate website. The thing is companies like HostGator make money on mass and put less effort into their platform or technical support. That said, I know many HostGator customers (self-included) that are happy with their WordPress hosting and their cheap WordPress hosting bills.

3. Toronto Creatives
(for Toronto Creatives clients only)

So, agency-to-agency Toronto Creatives hosting is provided by Flywheel for our WordPress clients. Toronto Creatives provides a layer of white-glove service and even content updates on top of the powerful WordPress dedicated Flywheel hosting platform. If your agency requires a digital partner get in touch and see how we can help with your next WordPress project! We’ll manage your hosting account, provide site maintenance and updates and make sure your Toronto Creatives-built website is always working the way it should. If for some reason it’s not we’ll quickly restore a backup to when it was working, and get the updated site fixed before re-launching. Your site is safe and is in great hands with Toronto Creatives and Flywheel. A dedicated Toronto Creatives team member is on call during regular business hours to help you with updates and questions.

CONCLUSIONS:

WordPress is a prickly pear when it comes to finding hosting. Any Shared Hosting/CPanel style hosting is fine as long as you know a thing or two about setting up your nameservers and DNS settings. The options I’ve listed above try their best to make managing WordPress site hosting as easy as possible.

If you decide to go with a cheaper solution such as HostGator, then just be prepared for a bit more work at the end of the day, or at least a bit more time spent corresponding with support.

Whatever hosting you choose please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or would just like to talk about the internet and stuff.
